RHP-NSK premium bearing housing in a wide range

NSK is Japan’s largest manufacturer of bearings, rolling elements and linear guides with more than a century of tradition in precision engineering. NSK Ltd. is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of rolling bearings, linear guides and also components for the automotive industry. In 1916, they became the first manufacturer of ball bearings in Japan.

The bearing units consist of a single row ball bearing sealed on both sides and a housing in which the bearing with the curved outer ring is stored.

Clamping bearings in houses are structurally based on a single-row ball bearing, but have a rounded outer ring and a widened inner ring. Due to these design aspects, bearing units can compensate for shaft misalignment.

The bearing unit is most often clamped to the shaft using set screws or an eccentric ring. With this simple assembly, bearing units are used in most industrial applications.

The steel-reinforced belts made of polyurethane are extremely flexible, hard-wearing, and durable. They are virtually corrosion-free due to their galvanized steel, and their polyurethane coating ensures anti-slip traction and more efficient power transmission.

PU belt reinforced with steel cord, type F 30 XHP, 12 steel cords per belt, 7 strands per steel cord, 7 steel wires per strand. In total 588 steel wires (152 steel wires in Conventional steel cord).

The steel wires are galvanized on the surface and thus ensure a corrosion-resistant design.

The horizontal arrangement of the traction ropes gives the belt a flat shape, which is advantageous especially for lifting and winding applications with the possibility of minimizing the diameter of the pulleys.

In case of specific application requirements, it is possible to produce a belt with aramid tensile fibers. They are rather more prone to breakage and sensitive to moisture, but characterized by resistance to aggressive chemicals and are antimagnetic.

Storage system of tensile fibers

The uniform operation of the belt is ensured by the distribution of forces in the belt. This is achieved by the use of a special system of storage of tensile fibers.
The system is based on the alternating use of tensile fibers with left and right strand winding. This evens out unevenness and reduces the forces that would normally cause the belt to slide to one side. A belt with this tensile fiber storage system does not tend to twist or curl.

Service life

The service life of the steel cord-reinforced CONTI® POLYFLAT XPS and XPS II flat belts is three times as long as that of belts with conventional steel cords under the same operating conditions. If all the conditions specified in the CONTI® POLYFLAT catalog are met, a service life of several million cycles spread over 10 years can generally be expected. The traction test over the number of cycles also demonstrated the system’s wear resistance.

Conti®Polyflat: Versions

The ContiTech production program includes belts of various designs and prices due to the specific difficulty of producing belts with the necessary characteristics.
Two-stage production also offers the possibility of other grooving shapes. Three-stage production allows the application of another layer.
In the case of belt grooving, it concerns requirements for perfect running smoothness, or maximizing resistance to external influences by completely covering the tensile fibers.

Properties

The properties of the CONTI® POLYFLAT PU flat belt open up many new areas of application, e.g. in lifting systems, car wash installations, forklifts, handling devices and scissor-lift tables.
The belt is selected on the basis of the circumferential force to be transmitted for the pulley size concerned.

The toothed side of the belts can be in HTD or STD profile. Depending on the power to be transmitted, they are available with glass cord tension member (STANDARD and CXP), or with aramid tension member (CXA).

The ribbed belt side is in PK profile with a rib spacing of 3.56 mm. These are very special belts, produced in only a few specific lengths and widths, which are determined by the number of ribs.

CONTI-V FO PIONEER v-belts, which were known for their blue color, are now produced in a new black version and under the new designation Conti®VX Advance. From a technical and performance point of view, there are no changes. The materials used to make these belts remain unchanged. As we mentioned in the previous news on our website, within the Continental CONTINUITY project, the names and performance ranges of the belts in the entire ContiTech portfolio are unifying.

CONTI-V FO PIONEER

In the past, the CONTI-V FO PIONEER v-belts were the only ones from the ContiTech range that did not use the company’s design, i.e. black rubber with yellow or white printing. In the case of the new CONTI VX ADVANCE belts, a significant visual change occurs at this stage. Blue CONTI-V FO PIONEER belts and black Conti®VX Advance belts have exactly the same characteristics. It is not necessary to change the construction, the method of assembly, the setting of the preload or the method of operation.
By using a different color of the outer cover textile, the blue backs of the belts, which are most visible when fitted in gears, turn black. The design of their print will also change.

Extended offer

The range of manufactured sizes is expanding:

• All profiles will be able to be produced up to a length of 6,850 mm (previously a maximum of 5,000 mm), which increases the possibilities of their application in transmissions with the highest outputs, even in the hundreds of kW.
• New dimensions will be added in the 8VX profile.

History of EPDM belts from ContiTech

First generation: CONTI-V FO PIONEER

More than ten years ago, in 2013, we acquired the first ContiTech FO PIONEER belts. At that time, it was a radical shift in the possibilities of using V-belts. The key innovation introduced by Continental as the first manufacturer of V-belts at the time was the use of an EPDM rubber compound. Unlike traditional rubber materials, this synthetic rubber offers significantly higher resistance to temperatures, up to 130°C.

Second generation: CONTI-V FO PIONEER

The introduction of the second generation of CONTI-V FO PIONEER belts in 2018 represented another important milestone in the ContiTech portfolio.
These innovative belts have an optimized tooth design that ensures flexibility even when using external idler pulleys. They were made of a more durable, fiber-reinforced EPDM compound. The performance of these belts has increased by approximately 5.5% compared to the first generation belts. Special tensile fibers compensate for the loss of preload due to temperature during operation.
These belts are considered maintenance-free in many applications. The new composition of the EPDM material also made them the first V-belts with a lower content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAU/PAH), thus meeting the requirements for health and environmental protection even during long-term use.
When replacing existing classic V-belts with CONTI-V FO PIONEER belts, significant energy savings occur.

Third generation: Conti®VX Advance

The new V-belt Conti®VX Advance will be used similarly to its predecessor CONTI-V FO PIONEER, primarily in compressors, construction machines, grinding saws, fans, blowers or pumps.
This belt is designed for the transmission of the highest performance and is characterized by high heat resistance. It meets the standards for electrical conductivity according to ISO 1813 and is made with a lower content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAU/PAH).

Chiaravalli gear boxes – CHM and CH

Our new offer includes two lines of worm gearboxes: CHM and CH, which are characterized by a variety of gear ratios from 1:5 to 1:100, with the possibility of increasing these ratios when using specific configurations. Small gear boxes (CHM 25 – CHM 90, CH) are made of aluminum alloy, sizes CHM 110, CHM 130 and CHM 150 are made of cast iron. Due to the flexibility and wide range of applications, these gear boxes are the ideal solution for various industrial needs.

The gearboxes are supplied with complete accessories and oil filling, while synthetic oil is used for most models and mineral oil for CHM 110, CHM 130 and CHM 150.

CHM gear boxes

Worm gear boxes with square construction designed for versatile assembly. Thanks to production secured by numerically controlled machines, maximum precision and adherence to strict tolerance values ​​are guaranteed. This fact contributes to the high reliability of the final product for a long time.

CHM gear boxes have at least one filling hole, which also serves as a check for possible leaks.

The Chiaravalli brand does not forget the possibilities of expansion and modification – mounting flanges allow combining two gear boxes to achieve higher gear ratios.

Gear boxes CH

The new series of CH worm gear boxes, developed by Chiaravalli, has been designed to meet market demands for a product that does not require changes to existing drawing documentation and at the same time guarantees an uninterrupted supply of spare parts. Thanks to technical innovations and improvements, this series offers easier product application for different mounting configurations, thus ensuring optimal flexibility and delivery dates.

Key benefits include a motor mounting flange that is completely separable from the gearbox body, minimizing the risk of oil seal damage when changing the input flange. In addition, all side covers, flanges and transmission feet are equipped with O-rings instead of traditional flat gaskets. Sizes 03-04-05 allow the mounting feet to be rotated without having to dismantle them.

Improvements have also been made to worm wheels with a ZI involute profile, thanks to which the gear boxes achieve better results in reducing heating. All bodies of electric motors and gea rboxes are provided with a protective aluminum coating RAL 9022, which protects the parts from aging and effectively covers small irregularities in the aluminum alloy.

All CH gear boxes are supplied complete with synthetic filling and are therefore maintenance-free and can be mounted in any mounting position.
